Gaggan
During a recent trip to Thailand, my boyfriend and I managed to get into Gaggan. We still don't know how or why, but we're not complaining. Especially because it had been named the best restaurant in Asia (for the 4th or maybe 5th consecutive year) just days before we dined.
To keep it short and sweet, we were led upstairs to a horseshoe-shaped counter where we joined 9 other people from all over the world for a chef's table style meal that was presented to us, in the words of the Korean chef in charge, as an "assault". We would receive a barrage of 25 dishes, and they would all correspond with rock songs from the western world.
Assault was a good word to describe the experience, as we were quickly served tiny dish after tiny dish, each vessel promptly scooped away as soon as we had eaten. But it wasn't uncomfortable, nor was it unpleasant, and the food was creative and delicious. We had a fantastic and interesting time. Service was excellent.
Hereโs a blunt assault of a review (some emojis don't like SquareSpace):
